Compare the same service and appointment length
A 30-minute follow-up and a 45-minute initial assessment answer different booking needs. Some clinics publish one fee for initial and subsequent visits; others price them separately. Do not divide a fee by its minutes and assume the cheapest rate is the right appointment.
Ask what is included, whether the session is one-to-one, and whether there are extra charges. Specialist, home-visit, telehealth, funded-claim and extended appointments may have different fees. They are outside this small comparison of ordinary private visits. See which appointment type to choose.
How we chose these examples
Knead read five Vancouver clinics' public fee or patient-information pages and selected entries that identify the visit type, duration and private fee. We did not survey every clinic, contact reception for quotes or verify these prices against individual booking calendars. Clinics without comparable public details are not represented.
This is a convenience sample for learning how to compare fees, not a recommendation, ranking, market average or representative price range. Website rates can change; use the linked source and confirm your exact appointment before relying on a number.
Your insurer's payment is a separate calculation
Start with the clinic's quoted fee, then ask your insurer about the eligible amount, reimbursement percentage, remaining annual balance, deductible and any per-visit cap. Do not apply the percentage automatically to the whole bill.
Hypothetical example: suppose the fee is $140, the insurer accepts $100 as eligible and pays 80% of that amount. With no remaining deductible and enough benefit balance, estimated reimbursement is $80 and your share is $60. Your plan may calculate differently. These figures are not a quote or coverage check.
Our insurer instructions explain where to find your own benefit details.
Ask how much money you need at the appointment
Direct billing describes claim submission and payment arrangements, not a promise of full coverage. A clinic may submit a claim while the insurer still pays you, or a claim may not be processed immediately. Ask whether to budget for the full fee upfront or an expected balance.
Read the direct-billing checklist. If you use a funded program or MSP supplementary benefits, confirm that program's eligibility and clinic payment process separately; the private fees above do not establish your program's user fee.
Plan what to pay at the visit
Use the clinic's quote and an insurer payment estimate you have already checked. This planner subtracts those amounts; it does not check your coverage.
Canadian dollars. Do not enter your name, policy number or health details. Amounts stay in this page and are not saved.
If a claim is delayed or declined, you may need to pay the full clinic fee. Confirm the payment arrangement with reception.

Copy these questions before choosing a time
What is the current fee and length for my exact service and practitioner? Is this the right appointment for a new or returning patient? Are there any additional charges? Can you submit a claim to my insurer, who receives the payment, and what do I pay if it is delayed or only partly covered? What are your cancellation terms?
Once those details are clear, use the physiotherapy guide to compare openings or follow our same-day search walkthrough. Knead does not set clinic prices, verify your benefits or complete the booking.
Sources and scope
This guide explains booking and payment questions. Your clinic confirms appointment eligibility; your insurer or Health Insurance BC confirms benefits. Sources were checked on 2026-10-26, unless a section shows a more recent check. Read how we prepare and update these guides.
